How reputable is Semi-Analysis? I hit their website and the do not have any bio's or background information about their analysts. Or are they just a bunch of Internet bros who have a large following/influence?

Why are states giving these companies massive tax breaks when they do not provide a great number of long term jobs, and rob the communities of their resources like water, electricity, etc. Blowing massive holes in these states budgets also.

Just looked at Texas because there seemed to be quite a few mentioned there and saw this. Not sure of amounts.

DataCenterMap USA

$ Tax Incentives

Texas Chapter 313 (expired 2022, replaced by Chapter 403 CHIPS Act incentives) offered property tax abatements. Texas Enterprise Fund and local economic development incentives remain available. No state income tax.

A Moratoriums & Restrictions

No statewide moratoriums. Some rural counties have expressed concerns but no formal bans enacted.

Zoning Laws

Texas has minimal zoning in unincorporated areas (Houston famously has no zoning). Most data centers built in industrial parks or on agricultural land with limited restrictions.

Renewable Energy Mandate

No renewable portfolio standard, but Texas leads the nation in wind energy (40+ GW) and rapidly growing solar. ERCOT wholesale market enables competitive renewable PPAs.

There was a famous note/saying in the 90's that "internet traffic was doubling every 100 days"; I think this was even mentioned by Al Gore and it was true for a year I think 96 or 97, but then it slowed down. I forget, but internet traffic was doubling like every year and a half, but most projections and build out was based on the hyped up quote.
